Welcome to Crete Lodge, Exotic Garden.

Crete Lodge, the home of Keith and Melissa Scott is on a plot just over one acre and is laid out in a series of exotic garden, each blending seamlessly into the next.

Meandering paths and steps lead the visitor on to discover a huge range of mature, diverse and rare species. From a shady, humid, Side Garden the home of Tree Ferns, Bamboos and palms to a colourful Tropical Side Garden with Banana Trees and lush planting.

The path leads on to the top of a sun baked gravel bank planted with a mass of different Yuccas. From here there are lovely views over the Natural Swimming Pond, surrounded by more Bamboos, Palms, Tree Ferns and Gunnera, and the Tud Valley beyond.

Finally, on to the Arid Bank, set out with Agaves, Aloes and Cacti and many more plants that 'can't be grown in England'. Many of the plants in the garden are borderline hardy and ingenious methods are employed during the winter months to protect them from frost and rain - frontier gardening at it's best!

Refreshments are served around the Swimming Pond. The garden is at the top of a private woodland track, with limited access but is a very pleasant walk from the main road, which takes approximately ten minutes at a gentle pace.
