Day Out

Had a day out to visit two nurseries last weekend, the first was Southfields Cacti Nursery in Lincolnshire.

They have a huge selection of cacti, it's just like being a kid in a sweet shop.

After making a few purchases it was onto Abbey Brook Cactus Nursery in Derbyshire. Probably more succulents than cacti here, quite a small sales area compared to the display greenhouse.

This Ferox was a stunning plant, very rare and doesn't pup.

Quite a a lot of very nice Gasteria, Aloe crosses, a few of which came home me.

This is the haul from the days shopping (not the little dish on the right, should have moved that before I took the photo)

This is just a small selection of photo's from the day, both places well worth a visit if cacti float your boat.

APRIL 30th

The last day of April has brought a brief break in the rain to get out into the garden. So with our trusty forks and spades we decided to dig out the dead Washingtonia and replace it with a bomb proof Yucca gloriosa.

The old palm came out quite easily as the root system was fairly rotten.

April 11th 2012

Actually got to plant a few plants today, only a few Saxifrage but it's a start. Still waiting for the frosts to end so we can get all the big plants out of there winter storage and get them placed and planted.

Still clearing the bank of weeds where the steps will go, Keith did a bit more of that after he'd been up on the roof.

My First Entry

It's Easter Monday, not very nice outside so I thought I'd have a play with the new site. Melissa has been loading pictures to get used to getting them the right size. not looking to bad so far.

The garden has been put on hold over the last couple of weeks due to a leaking flat roof. Today should be a good test for my repairs.
